Radiology
We are conveniently co-located with Jones Radiology at Toorak Gardens.
Often when you attend a consultation with a surgeon or breast clinician you will require imaging. This service is provided through Jones radiology.
Fees are payable directly to Jones radiology for any imaging or biopsies that are provided by them. You can ask the Jones radiology staff for a quote for any imaging fees prior to undergoing the imaging or biopsy. Concession rates are available if you show your Centrelink Healthcare card or Pension Concession card.
For your convenience our surgeons also consult once a month at three offsite Benson radiology locations. When you attend these locations the reception staff will take payment for your consultation fee. Any imaging that you have is payable to Benson Radiology at the time of your consultation. Concession card holders are discounted or Bulk Billed for imaging.
- Dr Andrew Kiu visits Benson Radiology Morphett Vale, monthly on a Monday afternoon
- Dr Robyn Coombe visits Benson Radiology Salisbury and Benson Radiology North Adelaide, both monthly on a Wednesday afternoon
Pathology
Sometimes after your consultation you will receive a bill for pathology for example Clinpath. This is when you have undergone a biopsy performed under ultrasound by the radiologist at Jones radiology. In some cases the pathology company is not able to bulk bill (for Medicare eligible patients) the patient. When this happens the invoice for pathology is sent to the patient to be paid directly to Clinpath Pathology.
If you receive any invoices or Medicare cheques in the mail from Jones Radiology or Clinpath pathology please contact them directly to make enquiries or to make a payment.
Referrals
A referral is required when you see any surgeon specialist for you to be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate.
It is important that we receive all new patients referrals prior to attending your appointment. This allows us to get all the information that we require prior to you attending your appointment including any imaging and pathology results.
If you attend yearly review appointments with a surgeon you will need to check that your referral is still current prior to your appointment. Referrals from another specialist only last for 3 months whereas referrals from a GP last 12 months from the date of the initial appointment. Sometimes your GP can provide you with an Indefinite referral for patients who require long-term care or surveillance.
Please bring the following to your appointment
- Medicare card
- Centrelink Concession Card
- Private Health Insurance card
- If you know you are going to require breast imaging with us, please wear two piece clothing and refrain from wearing deodorant or talc powder
We have free WIFI so you are welcome to bring your electronic devices.
